Manganese Removal in Teec Nos Pos, AZ

Manganese Removal in Teec Nos Pos, AZ

Manganese often travels with iron, but it behaves differently. It leaves black or dark brown stains on fixtures and laundry, and it can give water a bitter taste. The EPA secondary standard is 0.05 mg/L, and the agency has a lifetime health advisory of 0.3 mg/L, with tighter guidance for infants. Teec Nos Pos, AZ Well Water Treatment provides manganese removal for private wells in Teec Nos Pos, AZ.

Manganese is harder to oxidize than iron. It needs a higher pH, usually above 8.0 to 8.5, or a stronger oxidizer. That is why a filter that handles iron well can let manganese straight through.

Options we use:

• Catalytic media such as katalox or pyrolox with pH adjustment
• Greensand with potassium permanganate regeneration
• A softener for low levels, when the water is also hard
• Chlorine injection ahead of a backwashing filter

Well water testing for manganese should be part of any treatment plan. We check iron, manganese, pH and hardness together, because one affects how the others get removed.
